Political Theater?

Richard Hanna calls the vote to defund Planned Parenthood "political theater" . . .

Carly Fiorina says
'I dare Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, to watch these tapes,' Fiorina said. 'Watch a fully-formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking, while someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest its brain,' Fiorina said . . .    'This is about the character of our nation,' she continued. 'If you will not stand up and force President Obama to veto this bill, shame on us.'
In a 1973 film, Charlton Heston said

What was shocking fiction to the American Public in 1973 seems oddly quaint compared to what is actually happening today . . . .

 Yes,

'This IS about the character of our nation.'

Representative Hanna has earned a grade of F from Conservative Review. This is further evidence of him being totally out of touch with those of us who voted him into office . Never again will I vote for him.

Might be a good idea to fact check Ms. Fiorina before you take what she said as gospel. The scene she describes is horrifying. But, according to many actual experts (as opposed to politically motivated "experts"), the scene doesn't exist. "Fiorina was evidently referring to a few seconds of footage of what appears to be a stillborn fetus. The provenance of the video is unknown, there is no audio on the video, and there is no indication that the fetus was aborted." Nowhere in the highly edited videos released by the Center for Medical Progress were there any kicking legs. I'm sure they would have included them if they could have.

Daring anyone to view something that doesn't exist is a hoax in itself. Of course, the way this will probably play out is she'll be boasting next that Clinton and Obama failed to view it. Pretty safe bet since nobody could. I doubt that part will ever be mentioned - from one side, anyway.

Alot like believing vaccines cause autism. No matter how many times the proof has been cited and the originator has been discredited, there are some people who want to believe it. Or the Coke (or is it Pepsi) cans with the pledge of allegiance with "under God" left out. Or that poor widow in Africa who just wants to get the money out of the country so she's willing to give you half of it.

I wish we could hear intelligent people talk honestly about factual situations instead of the circus we call our "Political System" these days. I may not agree with Rich Hanna on much, but I do agree we're surrounded by theater masquerading as real life. And, too many of our fellow countrymen are willing to believe anything that fits with their preconceived ideas without checking the facts.

To Anonymous 1:26, the accuracy of Ms Fiorina's description of what she saw may be questioned.

What is not questioned is the fact that Planned Parenthood is selling baby body parts -- which has zilch to do with "women's health" or "reproductive rights." Why is this one organization given such privilege by our government when its alleged "services" are available from countless other providers?

It may be simply a matter of opinion, but I believe Ms. Fiorina is absolutely correct in her assessment of the situation.

The fact that sale of baby parts is supported by taxpayers' dollars IS about the character of our nation.

Well, Hanna has managed another sound bite courtesy of Planned Parenthood. But nothing will come of it. As a side note, can anyone come up with anything at all that Hanna has accomplished which benefits this area since he took office? Uh, just one?

Patiently waiting & waiting & waiting..........Maybe in a few years if he continues to be elected he can do something. Anything!

The idea that an exact video of what Fiorina claimed may be an exaggeration, it is fact that Planned Parenthood harvests baby parts to sell. If standing against this repugnant, likely illegal act is political theater, one wonders whether Mr. Hanna is delusional or simply oblivious to the act itself. As I recall, he is an ex president of the Planned Parenthood board and a heavy contributor. His vote is a clear expression that he indorses their practices as he historically has. It is unfortunate and telling that he does not have the guts to just say the obvious instead of masking his vote and position in a silly, irrelevant way.
