Hiding the Provolone . . .

This should be a shocking surprise --  except for the fact that the New Hartford Public Library (NHPL) is involved: OD: New Hartford Library surplus surprises some.

So let me get this straight ...  The NHPL, which was crying the blues a few months ago over not having enough money and tried to recharter itself to tap the taxpayers even more, was somehow able to amass a $100,000.00 fund that just now came to light?

$100,000 is about 20% of the library's annual budget, no?

While the Town Supervisor (he's a CPA, don't you know) seems to defend this as necessary to keep an organization running, if this was 20% of his town budget, wouldn't that attract the interest of NYS authorities -- i.e., if you can have a rainy day fund that large, you are taxing your residents too much.

Seems like the NHPL Board of Trustees is playing "hide the provolone" with the taxpayers!

New Hartford Online has all the sordid details! $100,000 hiding in the "books" at the New Hartford Public Library?

Right up front. NH Library Board President Linda Romano needs to resign... NOW! A $100,000 surplus discovered now after Linda Romano has spent the last year crying poverty while she was asking for $ 1,000,000 from New Hartford taxpayers. There are only two explanations for this late breaking discovery of surplus cash: A) Linda Romano mislead the people of New Hartford on the true state of the library’s finances or B) she is incompetent in her role as Library President and was unaware of the surplus. Either way, she is not fit for the position of Library Board President.

What a joke those in charge are. The library vote was a huge hoax and a move to shield the library from the taxpayer. With such a surplus how could money be an issue? They ought to step down for incompetence and deceit!

That group needs to be shut down until a complete audit is conducted. They duped the people for a million dollar budget. So much for integrity. Thats gone. The Town should hold the monies until a real accounting is performed. It is absured that the Town leaders would endorse their actions.

Library Trustee Ed Waitr is suing the Library because Library Director Hans Plambeck secretly video taped Waitr while he was reviewing documents int he library. Hans then bragged about doing it in an email to Library President Linda Romano. Hans is what my teenage daughters would call a "creep". Who else is he videoing?

Hide the provolone my foot. This is more like "hide the sausage", as far as what the board has done to the taxpayer's. If you get my drift.
