A Kind of Hush . . .

Potocki attacks opponent’s proposed budget
Oneida County Executive candidate Rodger Potocki slammed incumbent County Executive Anthony Picente’s proposed $360 million 2012 budget at a press conference Thursday morning.
“What is Picente doing? It is obvious that he has created an election year budget of smoke and mirrors that not only fails to meet state law but uses gimmicks to cover up the failure,” Potocki said . . .
Can't wait to see these two in a debate . . .

But what debate?  Perhaps the most important office in the County, but no information about a debate being scheduled.  Has anyone scheduled one? If not, why not?

Is anyone ducking the possibility?

It sure is quiet around here!

Why should Picente debate? He only has something to lose...

Would you debate if you were in his position?

I think Rodger needs to get moving and push for a debate if he is to win. As the other comment stated, Picente has something to lose. It would be nice if people knew where Rodger is coming from on the important issues other than from what limited media statements he has made.

The county executive has refused to debate thus far. A WKTV debate on Nov. 3 at 5PM is scheduled. Hope he shows even though it will be brief and limited. Picente said no to a WIBX debate and asked other groups he has sway with not to sponsor debates. D Naegele should go to both rodgerpotockinow.com and RodgerPtockiNow Facebook. He or she will find full statements and programs on all of the issues. Unfortunately, one cannot control what the media does or does not cover. You simply can't push for a debate and get answers. Debates have to be demanded by people or the media. Sadly, many seem to be dead by the neck up. That is why our politcs is stale, unproductive and boring!

The question that should be considered is one of the performance of a 7 year county executive who has been in government all of his life. If anyone is not happy with the performance, he should be voted out and a chance be given to someone else. Elections are always about incumbents and the longer they are in the more the elction is about them. If you like the way things are, vote Picente; if not, vote him out.

Sorry RPP (Rodger) I guess my last comment was poorly worded. I was hoping you would be making lots of noise by now and pushing hard to debate. I am not a campaign strategist by any means. I no longer live there but I read every day about the shenanigans that take place at the county level and have never been a big fan of the EDGE contract. It is the politics and taxes that drive people away from that area. I lived there most of my life and retired from Griffiss AFB. It is sad to watch from afar. County government needs a serious overhaul, and I would hope you are the one to bring it about. One would think that if you push hard enough, you could GOAD Picente into debating if you can't get him to debate any other way. I have followed your other websites and your facebook page. I know you are out and about in public, and doing well, but your media interviews I guess are what I am missing. I just would love to see you debate Mr Picente and to be able to pin him down and make his lack of a viable plan for success obvious to the voters.

I have tried to articulate the issues and make lots of noise. Sadly the media does not cover the county race and situation as it should. Without the desire to spend a small fortune of my own money, it has been tough to get the full message out. Speaking of the media, some who have tried to be fair have been silenced by their bosses who are squarely in the Picente camp. They ought to be ashamed to call themselves news media.

MV EDGE, DimEO, Papale and their family and friends who take from the public trough should be another reason to vote for Rodger Potocki.
