Taking and Giving in New Hartford . . .

Town to use eminent domain to gain access to business park
The town plans to use eminent domain to take land owned by Twin Orchards Farm in order to connect Clinton Street to the New Hartford Business Park
Big Government in New Hartford! Who would have thought of it? In a move reminiscent of that awful situation in Kelo v New London, Government is using Government Power to take Private Property to make other Private Property more valuable and to enrich a Private Individual.

Sprawl marches on.  Taxes go up in New Hartford to pay for construction and maintenance of more municipal facilities and services, so the taxpayers of New Hartford lose money and the residents of New Hartford experience a decline in the quality of their environment.  Taxes go up in neighboring Utica because more economic activity is attracted to the edge of Greater Utica rather than to the core, leaving the infrastructure at the core to be maintained by fewer people.  This is LOSE LOSE for the average person.  But its a win for a developer . . . and a win for Town Government officialdom which can justify growing more government.

This is bad public policy.  The Town Board needs to nix this idea.

For more see NH Online.

Land pirates all: and Don Backman, the so called "reformer" on the Town Board, voted to join in the pillaging even though he all but admitted it is wrong. Does anyone know when the public hearing was?

The Yager family is suffering a great injustice due to the greed of Mr. Adler and the Town Board. He has worked this property with love and sweat and now they want to eminent domain it. This is a horrible trade off, working and living the american dream vs. the government and private developers. This well deserves getting out the tar and feathers and teaching these idiots about the American way of life and respect for your neighbor.

What's interesting is that Concerned Citizens broke this story a day before the OD did! It looks like OD reporter Brauchle is again failing to report negative information on New Hartford. I think the only reason the OD finally reported it was because the CC did. Good job Cathy and Ed. BTW, did you see the title of Bob Brauchle's new blog: "An Insider's look at Oneida Count." What a joke! A reporter should not be an "Insider." The fact that he would even claim to be one shows he is too close the subject he is supposed to be covering. Brauchle seems more interested in protecting the reputation of Pat Tyskinski, Herb Cully, ect.

WARNING: the OD is now deleting any comments on its online site that are critical od the paper and critical of the Town of New Hartford Board. Several posts have disappeared under the articles for the Eminent Domain and the article on the town collecting the insurance premiums

The OD hates the truth. Especially when it exposes their country club friends. Donoven & Dudajek are two of the biggest obstructionists when it comes to protecting the interests of the average taxpayer that this area has ever seen.

As chronicled in several sources, Anonymous identifies the problem. The OD hierarchy, particularly Dononvan and Dudajek are part of the social network of those the paper should be monitering. The result is the control and supression of "real" reporting. The paper also surpesses publicizing books, periodicles, groups, etc., who are independent and out of the mainstream of establishmnet policy, thought and control.

Ok don't take the land then give the BP 840 access

Strikeslip said...

The BP has access from Woods Hwy. Town residents have no obligation to provide more.

Well thank you for all the traffic on Woods Hwy. Put traffic on a road that can handle it like 840 or if your against that, take the land and send it on Middle Settlement
