NYS Dept. Education might drop one of three Regents exams, saving $1.5 million . . . and yet they can spend about $300 million renovating Utica schools alone. Shave a half percent off Utica's construction bill and students in the entire state can get their Regents.
Just whom is NYSED serving? It's obviously not the students.

January regents are very important to schools like NH that use semester scheduling. Semester scheduling is one of the keys to offering such a variety of classes, including AP classes. The loss of January regents is a very real loss to NH students. Well worth the expense statewide. Cut the waste, not the value from NYSED budgets.
