"Fixing" School Budgets ?

"Fixing" taxpayers is more like it.

In an under-reported move (under-reported in that local news accounts left out a key fact) Sens. Griffo, Valesky and Seward voted in March to make it easier for school districts to increase spending when voters vote NO on local school budgets.

It seems that with current economics and law, a NO vote would permit a 0% increase, but with the new proposal a 3% rise in local school spending would take place.

New Hartford Online has all the details (scroll to "related story").

It's clear that these senators do not trust you, the voters, to do what is right for your local district.

Strike,

Senators Griffo, Valesky and Seward need to be voted out-of-office and soon.

Let us all hope that RoAnn DeStito does the right thing and votes this stupid piece of legislation - down!

Just look at the recent NH School Budget and the secrecy they hide behind. Is this what taxpayers want more of the same?

The property tax payers get it stuck to them again! Soon they may all be looking at a 4% yearly increase in their school budgets. It is not bad enough that the school taxes are our biggest property tax, school district administrators will soon have absolutely no incentive to keep their yearly budget proposals under a 4% increase. Thanks to our Central New York King Senator Griffo for back-door raising our school taxes with (S5523A)! Take a look at who one of the bill’s (A10130) co-sponsors is in the Assembly . . . Yes it is none other than Central New York Queen Assenblywoman Destito (http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/A10130, Co-sponsor(s): Thiele, Weisenberg, Zebrowski, Skartados, Koon, Jaffee, Gunther, Galef, DelMonte, Castro, Lupardo, Fields, Destito, Gordon, Russell) It seems that if they can’t find a way to raise our State taxes, they look for ways to provide a method for other governments to raise our taxes. This begs the question: Just who do these state legislators actually represent? New York’s school districts administrators and the teachers union must be very busy getting their legislator donation list ready for a massive reward check writing campaign. The old quid-pro-quo reward system will have these hefty campaign donation checks out in the mail in time for the Legislator’s reelection campaign spending spree. What will the perpetually escalating school taxes mean to commercial and business property taxes? The State legislators are not going to be happy until they force the unemployment numbers into double digits and chase all of the remaining businesses out of New York State.

The votes are telling. They translate into an acceptance of fact that spending will never be cut or reduced below prior year expenditures. This means that taxes will increase every year in one form or another. It is ionteresting that Griffo and Seward have never held a private sector job. And, all are beholding to the teacher's unions.
