Just when it started to look like New Hartford would take over Utica's place as regional laughingstock, we get this scene out of city hall . . .
Was that really a knife that the councilwoman grabbed?
Want to know why the WHOLE REGION has gone to the dogs? Look no further than its elected officials.

The officials on display were elected. That fact is the most telling about the area.
I have two Aunt Emma stories that illustrate the level of political representation in this area. We were having an on-going problem with water run off at our New Hartford location. Several letters were sent to our town board rep Ms. Krupa- no response. We then sent a letter to several town officials and soon received a call from Bob Payne. I expressed surprise at the call and wondered why he was calling about the problem since we were not in his district and did not contact him in any way. I joked that he was truly delligent to call. What was obvious to me was that he thought we were in his district. Then I considered the possibilty that Krupa never responded because she did not realize we were in her district. To my further amazement Earl Reed showed up a few days later. But, that is an aside. Today, I heard a radio report that two different Oneida County legislators claim the James Street property of the tragic fire infamy is in their district. Obviuosly one is incorrect. The point is - if these people are unclear of the basic of who and what is in their districts, how can we expect or trust them to oversee the vast sums of money they control? And,this taxpayer is not at all shocked at your conclussion that the region has, " gone to the dogs".
No wonder nothing gets done in the city. I have never seen such disorganized chaos in my life. They obviously have lost their copy of "Robert's Rules" and also the gavel.
Everyone babbling like baboons and a lady with a knife on the table. The chaotic arguing should dictate that nobody be allowed into the room with anything sharper than a crayon.
I could not believe that LaBella is sitting there texting on his cell phone, while neither "mayor spinny" or the council president even attempt to bring the meeting under control.
That kind of politics and aimless BS is why our hometown is circling the bowl folks.
Pass the cake....
This is what we have degenerated to. This is a perfect example of the least common denominator of public officials. I have seen better behavior in children park sandbox, but without the rudeness of a text messaging Police Chief.
Clipper,
You aint't seen nothing until you have seen with a cigar in his mouth in the County Bldg. in the Democratic Caucus room.
Now that is ARROGANCE!
This just in:
After careful study of a zoomed up copy of the tape we were able to decipher what LaBella was texting:
"So how does Juan's Tripp look in the 4th at Aquaduct?"
This is without a doubt the worst mayoral administration in this city's history. We have an absentee mayor running his business on city time, a police chief in it for the bucks, & a council & and an E & A board incompetent & out of control. No way can this city survive till the end of Roefaro's term. God help us.
Yes, it can't get much worse but someone did elect him. The guy can't string words or thoughts together. Perhaps the answer is for him to stay away more frequently, not less. Of course, that would require that he have competent people in place. Oh, well.
A person with half a brain is more competent than the bunch that is in control now. I can't wait for next year's double digit tax increase courtesy of Roefaro & his cronies.
