Nano Sleight of Hand. . . .

The OD headline blares: NANO IS HERE. Believe it . . .

But please forgive me for feeling sceptical.

The problem with SUNY Poly having one name but two campuses is that unless the Utica or Albany campuses are specifically identified, you never know which campus they are talking about.

Therefore, should anyone take comfort in knowing that
"SUNY Poly has 215 researchers and faculty members and about 350 more people already are working for some of the existing tenants who will occupy the Computer Chip Commercialization Center in Marcy . . ."
when the article fails to state that these people are assigned to work at the UTICA Campus?  Given the lack of transparency on this project, one must assume that the people Kayoleros is referencing are stationed in Albany until we are told otherwise.

Even if all were working in Marcy, the total is less than 1,000 jobs. And, what do these jobs pay? Are they taxpayer funded? Who are the tenants and how much private sector investment is committed? My guess and I hope I am wrong but it seems as a small fortune in government spending is generating little in return. It's like the Start New York ads. The average employment of the private companies is 38 jobs per. This for millions in tax beaks and grants? I'd be ashamed to advertise a program that lame.

Once again the OD cheerleads instead of objectively and fully reporting. That sham of a paper has a history of trumpeting failed government funded projects from electric cars to airplane related companies to a host of losers we paid for. Is this the same, tired reporting? Any one can build a costly building with taxpayer supported money. What is going into the building in private sector jobs. Until that can be reported, why even print anything other than cost?

Wow, today another 100 jobs were reported! All told we still seem to be under 1,000 at best. Where are the 5,000 jobs? Or even the 1,500 projected? Are the local pols, the OD and EDGE serious to sell the idea that this project will "transform" the area? It's more like the taxpayer's wallet will again be transformed.
