As Expected . . .

Oneida County approves deal with Oneida Indian Nation

The County Leg has again allowed itself to be bullied and high-pressured into taking action without having time to run the numbers or to consider the down side of this "agreement." . . . and there IS another perspective:  A rotten deal with 'casino Oneidas'

This is why people and businesses leave New York.  Government here fails to protect the average person's interests. Money and power are everything.

the solution is to dissolve Oneida County thereby getting rid of another expensive layer of incompetent government. It can't get much worse NYS already is in control here .

Definitely agree with dissolving OC government. What purpose do they serve, what power do they have (other than taxing us) are they really able to represent us, and can they stand up for us?

NYS has too much government and here is a layer to remove while lowering my taxes!!!

It’s a government win/win situation! The Governor can now say that he brokered an intergovernmental deal, placing a feather in his Presidential campaign hat. Oneida County government will have a projected annual $12 million to bloat its political patronage payroll. And perhaps again Mohawk Valley Water Authority will contemplate running much needed water to Verona? That will make the Oneida Nation happy . . . Hint, Hint, if you know what I mean. And the poor Oneida county taxpayers will receive absolutely NO tax relief out of this deal. One can just hear the giant retail sucking sound exit Oneida County to go to the West.

What a sham! Now that the deal has passed Picente has now revealed that O.C.'s share will not actually be $12 million from the State as he previously claimed. The county will lose $2 million in State aid, plus sales tax revenue will fall.

As usual Picente has once again resorted to half truths in order to get what we wants. And where is the local media who are cohorts in deceiving the public? If WKTV knew about the loss in revenue to the county why did they wait until after the vote was taken to reveal to the public the actual numbers which they did last nite?

What happened to one nation? We have created two here with different standards, different rights and different laws. Our own government and its people have allowed the destruction of the very foundation of our democracy and all the seems to concern people is money. And, you wonder why we are a low level, backward area?

Our gutless O.C. legislators need to grow a pair. Time to tell King Cuomo that he and his father have created a monster that eventually will devour us . The state has made thios area a welfare dumping ground . Medicare is beyond sustainable with more new takers every day. we are being run in to the ground by Albany with more and more schemes that only ensure our sinking ever deeper into an economic backwater.

... what's the rush?...don't we have another 30+ years to kick this further down the road...

Hey, look who brokered the deal. Cuomo, Destito & Halbritter.

I rest my case.

I hope that no one thinks that Big Chief Ray will let anyone near the counting room where the money is tallied. So, all he has to do is tell the dumb white men what they get a percentage of. I am sure it will be no where near the real numbers. Great job by the powers that be. The county is up the creek with a two dollar paddle. This is just like the beads for Manhattan deal, only backwards.

Madison County is in tears as they joined Oneida County to be flushed sold down the Mohawk River. Now Chief Ray holds all of the cards. Now . . . Follow the money trail. The Chief already has control over the Oneida Nation, Madison County, Oneida County and the State of New York. In the Future, with a very well crafted campaign contribution, perhaps he can influence the next U.S. Presidential administration too. “POLITICS MAKES FOR STRANGE BEDFELLOWS.” Charles Dudley Warne

Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney should be commended for her New York Post article. Claudia was spot-on!

"The deal even deputizes the Casino Oneida’s security force, giving them police powers over all citizens of the county."

I believe our Founding Fathers would be taking up arms over such trashing of citizens' rights. Some judge should issue an order of arrest for the governor.
